welfare

UNISON Welfare can help with:

  • Practical help and advice in resolving financial debts
  • Harassment at work and at home
  • Domestic violence
  • Respite for carers and convalescence for the long term sick
  • Holidays for families on low income
  • Crisis loans

This month at Leeds Met:

UNISON provided a member and her partner with a well needed holiday. A break away from home can make all the difference to a person’s wellbeing, especially if they’re on long term sick leave. Our member had just come off half pay and was worried about organising her finances as well as coping with family problems. We gave her a week away from home to relax and get some perspective. We also arranged for a pension advisor to visit the member at home - he soon unravelled her finances and helped her prepare a workable financial plan for her future.

If you feel you could do with someone to talk to or you have a problem that’s getting you down please email or pick up the phone and give me a call.
